Sukiyaki is a Japanese dish that's typically cooked table-side. Our one-pot version skips the fuss but none of the flavour to bring you sweet-soy broth, hearty noodles and tender veggies. It's just the thing to satisfy cozy cravings. Ingredients: Bok choy • Ground beef • Chow mein noodles (wheat flour, water, potassium carbonate, food color (yellow #5), potassium sorbate) (wheat) • Mushrooms • Soy sauce-mirin blend (salted mirin (glucose, fermented rice extract, water, salt), water, soy sauce (soybean, maltodextrin, salt), salt, natural flavour (autolyzed yeast), citric acid, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate) (soy) • Carrots • Crispy shallots (onion, palm oil, wheat flour, salt) (wheat) • Beef stock powder (salt, sugars (dextrose, corn syrup solids, maltodextrin), hydrolyzed vegetable proteins (soy), palm oil, corn starch, dehydrated onion, caramel colour (sulphites), silicon dioxide, herbs, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, spice extracts, natural flavour) (soy, sulphites) • Brown sugar (cane sugar, molasses) • Green onion.

Preparation

Prep

  • Before starting, wash and dry all produce.
  • Thinly slice green onions, keeping greens and whites separate.
  • Thinly slice mushrooms.
  • Cut bok choy into 1/2-inch pieces. (Rinse bok choy leaves to wash away any dirt.)

Cook beef and mushrooms

  • Heat a large pot over medium-high.
  • When hot, add 1/2 tbsp (1 tbsp) oil, beef, mushrooms, green onion whites and brown sugar. Season with salt and pepper. Cook, for 4-6 min, stirring often, until veggies are tender and beef is cooked through.**
  • Add soy-mirin blend. Cook for 30 sec, stirring often, until fragrant.

Make broth and cook noodles

  • Add stock powder and 3 cups (7 cups) water. Bring to a boil over high.
  • Meanwhile, using hands, separate noodles and shake off any excess starch.
  • Once broth is boiling, add carrots, bok choy and noodles.
  • Cook for 2-3 min, stirring often, until noodles and veggies are tender.

Finish and serve

  • Divide noodles and broth between bowls.
  • Sprinkle crispy shallots and remaining green onions over top.
