Honey-Soy Pork Bunless Burger

with Creamy Slaw

Difficulty: 1/3
Asian

Here’s a fun idea for tonight’s dinner, burgers without the buns! Not convinced yet, well let’s fix that. These pork patties are cooked in a delicious teriyaki sauce after being combined with both ginger and garlic, with a side of roast veggies sprinkled with sesame seeds. Without a bun, all these flavours shine in the bowl. So what do you think, isn’t this the best kind of burger option you’ve ever had! *This recipe is under 650kcal per serving and under 40g carbohydrates per serving.* *The recent weather conditions across New Zealand have impacted our regular supply of fresh ingredients and as such, what you receive may be slightly different to what’s pictured. Don’t worry, your recipe will be just as delicious!*

Preparation
1

• Finely chop garlic. Grate the carrot. Thinly slice celery. • In a large bowl, combine pork mince, garlic, ginger paste, the egg, fine breadcrumbs and a pinch of salt. • Using damp hands, shape pork mixture into 2cm-thick patties (2 per person). TIP: Make a shallow indentation in the centre of each patty to help prevent it puffing up as it cooks.

2
2

• In a large frying pan, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat. Cook pork patties until just cooked through, 4-5 minutes each side. • Remove pan from heat, then add the honey-soy sauce and a splash of water and cook until bubbling and slightly reduced, 30 seconds. Gently turn patties to coat.

3

• Meanwhile, combine shredded cabbage mix, carrot, celery, 1/2 the mayonnaise and a drizzle of olive oil and rice wine vinegar in a second large bowl. Season to taste.

4
4

• Divide creamy slaw between bowls. • Top with honey-soy pork patties and spoon over any remaining glaze from the pan. • Serve with remaining mayonnaise. Enjoy!
