Not to be confused with rice, orzo is actually a type of pasta. This Easy Beef Bolognese Orzo is ready in less than 15 minutes, paired with an easy Bolognese style beef ragu and plenty of cheese.

Preparation

Boil Orzo

  • Boil a half-full kettle.
  • Pour it into a saucepan with 1/2 tsp salt on high heat.
  • Boil the orzo, 10 mins.
  • Once cooked, drain in a sieve.

Get Frying

  • Meanwhile, heat a drizzle of oil in a frying pan on high heat.
  • Once hot, fry the beef and mushrooms, 5-6 mins.
  • Break up the mince as it cooks, then drain the fat.
  • Season with salt and pepper. IMPORTANT: Wash hands and utensils after handling raw meat. Cook so there's no pink in the middle.

Sauce Time

  • Stir the passata, beef stock paste, Worcester sauce, mixed herbs, ketchup, sugar and water (see pantry for all three amounts) into the beef.
  • Simmer, 1-2 mins.
  • Stir the cooked orzo and cheese into the sauce.
  • Season with salt and pepper.

Dinner's Ready!

  • Serve the orzo bolognese in bowls.
  • Top with the rocket leaves.
  • Enjoy!
